A note from the founder

Emma gave HeartBond its purpose. Ruby reminds me every day why it matters.

Emma was my first pet as an adult, and she was my companion for thirteen years. When she developed brain cancer, I was unprepared for understanding what she needed, what my choices were, and how much of our ordinary time together I had let pass without really noticing it.

Then came Ruby, my high-energy Boston Terrier — as different from Emma on the outside as a dog could be. And then, somehow, Emma's personality began showing up in Ruby. The same habits. The same way of looking at me. Living with Ruby, knowing now how precious these years are, I find myself paying attention in a way I never had before — to what she is telling me, to what she needs, to the small moments that turn out to be the collective story. Ruby is the reason HeartBond isn't only about what I lost. She's the reason it's about what's possible.

HeartBond began with a simple wish: that no dog parent should have to learn these things the hard way. The Companion is the first of what I hope will be many ways to help you make more of the time you have with the dog beside you right now.
